Bonfe’s free in-home water test gives Twin Cities homeowners a professional, no-obligation look at their water quality. A licensed Bonfe plumber comes to your home, runs professional-grade tests, and walks you through the results: what’s in your water, how it’s impacting you and your home, and whether any changes are worth making.
There’s no fee and no pressure, just reliable information so you have a better understanding of what’s in your water.
Bonfe uses professional testing equipment to measure the characteristics most likely to affect your home’s plumbing, your appliances, and your daily comfort, including:
For homes with existing water treatment equipment, we go a step further. We collect samples at multiple points—before your existing treatment system, after it, and at each piece of water treatment equipment in the home.
That tells us two things:
Once testing is complete, we sit down with you and walk through the results so you can see an accurate picture of your home’s water quality. We’ll explain everything the test detected, flag anything worth addressing, and let the results guide the conversation from there.
How we approach your test depends on your water source.
City water
For homes on municipal water, a licensed Bonfe plumber visits your home to run an on-site test and discuss what’s typical for your area. Most city water tests can be completed in a single visit. If something stands out (ie. elevated hardness, high chlorine, or anything outside the expected range ), we can follow up with deeper testing to get a full picture before recommending any next steps.
Well water
Well water varies more than city water, which means the testing process looks a bit different. When we test a home on well water, we collect multiple samples: one from the raw water entering the home and one after each piece of water treatment equipment in your home. That gives us a complete, point-by-point picture of what’s in your water and whether your current equipment is handling it correctly.
This level of testing typically costs hundreds of dollars out of pocket. With Bonfe, it’s free.
After your samples are analyzed, you’ll receive a clear, easy-to-read results report. The findings are organized in a color-coded format: green (good), yellow (watch), red (address), so you can understand your water quality at a glance.
A licensed Bonfe plumber reviews every result with you and discusses:
Sometimes the answer is “you’re in good shape.” Other times, there’s a straightforward improvement that makes a real difference. Our goal is to provide you with accurate information so you can understand your home’s water quality.
Call us at 651-332-6633 or schedule online. A licensed Bonfe plumber will come to your home, run the test, and walk you through the results. The entire process is free, with no obligation to purchase anything.
We test for the characteristics most likely to affect your home: hardness (calcium and magnesium), iron, manganese, chlorine, pH, total dissolved solids, and sediment. For well water homes, or homes with existing water treatment equipment, we test at multiple points throughout the home to build a complete picture of your water quality.
Yes. Well water testing is more involved because well water tends to vary more in composition. We collect multiple samples of raw water coming in, plus samples after each piece of treatment equipment, to map exactly what’s in your water and whether existing equipment is working as it should. This multi-point process is included in the free test for well water homes.
City water tests are typically completed in a single visit. Well water testing involves collecting samples at multiple points, which are then analyzed at a certified local lab. Your plumber will walk you through the timeline during the appointment. Results are reviewed with you in person once they’re ready.
A licensed Bonfe plumber walks you through your results using a color-coded report (green, yellow, and red), so it’s easy to understand. We’ll explain what’s typical for your area, what’s specific to your home, and whether any changes would make a noticeable difference. If something is worth addressing, we’ll show you personalized options tailored to your results.
