Our Story: From One Truck to a Family
Bonfe isn’t just another home services company – we’re a team united by our shared passion for helping people.
The company was founded in 1993 by Wally Bonfe, one plumber with a truck and a newspaper ad. He started working out of a small shop in Mendota (now the post office) and persevered through the challenges of starting solo. His hard work paid off, and Wally grew the business, building a carefully selected team, one plumber at a time, driven by a desire to do things differently. Wally believed in treating his employees like family, fostering a work environment built on respect, support, and a genuine desire to help others.
From its inception, Bonfe was built on the shared core belief that people matter.
In 2000, Wally’s son, Pete, joined the company, but he didn’t start here. Wally believed that it’s always best to work for someone else first, learn what you do and don’t like, and identify what kind of business and leader you want to be. It didn’t take long for Pete to realize that he wanted to be in the business of caring about people. He was drawn to the companies whose culture focused on helping people—whether that meant fixing a customer’s burst pipe or taking a driven and curious teen under his wing as an apprentice.
Pete knew that he could help make Bonfe a place that makes a positive impact on the community.
Together, father and son navigated the ups and downs of growth, each bringing their strengths to the table. Wally, the seasoned pro with a “get it done” attitude, and Pete, the visionary leader focused on building a family, not just a business. Over the years, Bonfe has grown, expanding our services to better serve homeowners and their neighborhoods. We listened to our customer’s needs, adding HVAC, Electrical, Drains, and Sewer services. Wally retired in 2019, and Pete took over.
We now proudly employ over 200 incredible people and provide service throughout the Greater Twin Cities Metro.
